Motorised Tracks for Heavy Curtains
Planning motor capacity for velvet, blackout and interlined curtains.
Heavy curtains can be motorised, but the project must be designed around the actual finished load, bends, motor headroom and structural fixing.
01
Why heavy curtains are underestimated
Velvet may be combined with blackout lining, interlining, deep hems and high fullness. All layers move together.
02
Use the strongest suitable motor
Shuttle M has the highest published straight-track capacity in the Shuttle range at up to 70 kg.
03
Do not ignore bends
Curves add resistance. Apply the bend allowance and confirm the final system with the manufacturer or supplier.
04
The track fixing is equally important
A powerful motor cannot compensate for weak ceiling support, poor bracket spacing or unsuitable fixings.
Turn the guide into a project specification.
Use TrackFit’s separate weight calculator for a preliminary load, then send the dimensions, photos, fixing details and control requirements for review.
